Mike Reflects
I honestly do not know how many times I’ve interviewed Lisa Foiles.
I have one—I believe the first—published in the “Archive” section of this website, but, unfortunately, my old hard drive crashed before I was able to get all the interviews off it that would otherwise be in that section.
Let’s just say this is somewhere between number 3 and number 5, because that sounds right.
Lisa’s a personal favorite of mine to interview.
I grew up watching her on shows like All That and that episode of Malcolm in the Middle where Lois imagined all the boys were girls, or that episode of Even Stevens we discussed at one point where she was really quick to point out that she’s not Lauren Frost.
But more than that, she’s someone I can always count on for a good interview, even when there’s literally nothing to talk about.
One of my fondest memories of interviewing anyone is when Lisa and I once ended up in what I remember to be a roughly 3-5 minute conversation about what a melon baller is what purpose it serves in a modern kitchen.
I have no idea how we got there. It was definitely not relevant to anything she had going on.
But it was unbelievably fun.
We didn’t get to do that much here, because we had 10 years of actual catching up to do, but we got a bit of it in at the beginning, albeit briefly.
I honestly can’t believe it’s been about 10 years already.
It really doesn’t feel that long, and I was, as I said, genuinely a bit surprised at just how fast and far life’s moved for both of us.
It felt really nice to get to sit down with her again, catch up, and engage in a bit of the previously mentioned tomfoolery.
