Mike Reflects

This section is where I reflect on the interview & tell you my favorite parts, as well as relevant personal stories & memories.

This was my first time attending this convention.

While it's been on my radar for a bit, I wasn't sure what to expect from a single-day convention at the county fairgrounds

It ended up being pretty small and intimate: a solid (but not overwhelming crowd), some local artists/vendors, and, of course, Rodger.

Like most people my age, I grew up watching SpongeBob SquarePants on Nickelodeon.

So getting to meet Rodger and talk to him for a bit about the show's legacy (even getting to hear him do the voice of Squidward) was a real treat.

I wasn't there for more than an hour before I'd seen and done everything I wanted to, but while I love shows like FAN EXPO and C2E2, some of the first shows I attended were smaller, simpler shows like this, and it's nice to have room to breathe and a way to spend a small part of a day, rather than a packed all-day (or even all afternoon) commitment.

I'm looking forward to seeing what the next DuPage Comic Con will look like.
