Mike Reflects

This section is where I reflect on the interview & tell you my favorite parts, as well as relevant personal stories & memories.

If you somehow have yet to hear, or truly listen to, the song I’m Going to Go Back There Someday from The Muppet Movie, here’s a link to do so now, before you read any further.

Looking back at this interview, one line from that song jumps out at me, more than anything else:

There’s not a word yet, for old friends who’ve just met…

That’s truly what talking to Paul felt like.

We’d never met or spoken before, but once we started talking, he was so warm and personable that it really felt like we’d known each other for quite some time.

Of course, the way he’d put himself into many of his songs—you can’t write what he does without it—and our backgrounds as creatives of different types, we probably did know each other as well as two complete strangers could.

Beyond that, I feel like anything I say runs the risk of diluting the interview itself.

Listen. Take it in. Sit with it.

And, of course, if you can, go meet Paul. If nothing else, the conversation will be more than worth it.
